Viva Engage, our new Group-wide enterprise social network (ESN), brings together leaders and co-workers across our organisation, enabling us to answer each other’s questions, share our unique stories, and create a deeper sense of belonging at work.

As part of the Microsoft 365 environment, Viva Engage takes the online office dynamic further with a platform that builds communities, encourages two-way conversations and promotes knowledge sharing. It also integrates seamlessly with other Microsoft apps that we all work with every day.

Bringing our people together, from Cape to Cairo

In large companies that span multiple countries, such as Vodacom Group, employees often only know their immediate team or department colleagues. Viva Engage can perform nearly all the functions of an intranet, significantly enhancing internal communication. We can break down the boundaries and interact directly with each other in real time across countries and functions, with no user limit, enhancing functionalities and sharing best practices.

What Viva Engage can do for you

  • Connect you through communities that support local markets, business groups, official programmes and initiatives, and shared interests.

  • For line managers and leaders, Viva Engage is a great platform to reach and inspire employees as it allows for two-way communication.

Getting the most out of Viva Engage

  • The Home feed – this is where you’ll find the latest company-wide stories. Stay on top of what matters, tap into the knowledge of others and build on existing work.
  • The Leadership corner – this is where you’ll find messages directly from company leaders, including everything from economics to politics, conferences, strategic focus areas and market visits.
  • Search – Viva Engage allows you to search for colleagues, communities, experts, conversations and files.
  • Communities – Join communities to stay informed, connect with your co-workers and gather ideas.
  • Storyline – Write your own post in your Storyline and add files, GIFs, images or videos to enhance your post. You can also share your post to public communities or those that you have admin rights for.
  • Interact – Join a conversation by reacting, replying to or resharing. Use polls to crowdsource feedback and get answers fast.
  • Engage – To tag someone in a post or comment, type @[name] to loop them in. You can also praise someone in the company or a community to celebrate a success, or just to say thanks.
  • You can even stay connected outside the office with the Viva Engage mobile app.
