That’s the Spirit of Vodacom!
The Spirit of Vodacom Day in September was another unifying celebration that fostered our company culture, with staff gathering to reflect on our core behaviours and embrace diversity.
Celebrated by all staff, our quarterly Spirit of Vodacom Day is an opportunity to embrace our heritage by celebrating our differences, but more importantly, it’s an opportunity for us to come together as #OneVodacom.
It’s a place free of meetings and the traditional workspace, where everyone has a chance to step away from their usual routines. The day allows the Vodacom family to reflect on the core behaviours that form the foundation of our unique culture, as well as our beliefs, namely trust, drive, curiosity and belonging.
At our Spirit of Vodacom Day in September, leaders and teams came together to engage and celebrate each other. The leaders led by example while teams took ownership of the day, creating a blend of experiences focused on personal growth, development, wellbeing and connection.
Staff were encouraged to do what worked best for them, allowing everyone to come together in the name of the Spirit.
Thanks to the dedication and enthusiasm of the Vodacom family, the day was a resounding success and a demonstration of the values and spirit that make this a unique, thriving company.
Midrand
More than 2 000 employees turned up for one of the biggest Spirit of Vodacom Days at our campus since we brought back the magic after Covid-19. The day featured everything from sports activities to heritage stands and a focus on wellbeing. In an exhibition soccer match, Exco beat YCO 4-0, with Refilwe scoring a hat-trick and Sitho rounding off proceedings with the final goal.

Limpopo
In our Region of the Year, the team’s togetherness was evident in all the activities, including a fun padel tournament. Padel – a sport none of the team had played before – was chosen in the spirit of growing and trying something new together. Above all, it provided an opportunity for everyone to share a laugh and build team spirit.
KwaZulu-Natal
Sport has the power to bring us together, and KZN did it in style to ensure everyone showed up as one in their region. From soccer to netball and cricket, there was something for everyone.
Western Region
Nothing brings South Africans together like dancing – and our Western Region employees were in full flow, showing off their moves with an epic Spirit dance. Whatever we face in life, we can move together and remind ourselves that laughing, dancing and connecting with each other is how we go even #FurtherTogether.
Eastern Region
Our East London office took to the beach for a few rounds of volleyball.
Our Port Elizabeth office held a potjie competition in which they shopped for ingredients and tried to cook the winning meal within three hours.
The George office kept their spirits up by embarking on an invigorating adventure walk.
Central Region
Food creates and strengthens bonds across South Africa, and our Central Region went all out with a delicious spread of their favourite heritage dishes.
Mpumalanga
The team started the day with a game of “Spirit of Vodacom 30 Seconds”, themed around South African iconic figures, musicians, general knowledge, as well as Vodacom Spirit pillars and history.
After everyone attended the Leadership Cafes, proceedings concluded with a Heritage Day-themed lunch that celebrated the diverse cultures of the #WinnaLanga family.
