Immersion cooling technology

Vodafone’s new immersion cooling technology minimises reliance on harmful refrigerants and offers a more environmentally friendly cooling solution. The system, which manages thermal conditions in the data centre, uses non-conductive dielectric liquids with a lower environmental impact.

The Property and Facilities team achieved a major milestone in its commitment to sustainability and technological innovation when it successfully validated this immersion cooling technology, confirming that the solution meets the operational needs.

The groundbreaking approach to cooling significantly enhances efficiency, resulting in reduced energy consumption and a remarkable decrease in carbon emissions associated with energy production, ultimately bringing us closer to a sustainable future. We are currently starting the final dry run to validate the full implementation of the system.

This achievement not only solidifies our position as a forward-thinking industry leader, but it also reinforces our commitment to building a greener, more sustainable future. With this innovative cooling solution, our team is paving the way for more efficient and environmentally conscious data centres, in line with our tradition of leadership and contributing to Vodafone’s key performance indicator (KPI) of achieving net-zero status by 2030.

In celebration of World Environment Day 2023, we invited employees to a unique experience of becoming more environmentally aware and exploring the actions they can take to #SwitchToGreen. Our on-the-ground activation showcased Vodafone’s initiatives in support of this cause.

We installed a booth where employees swapped their old plastic SIM with our new Eco-SIM and activated their Haystack digital business card on their mobiles.

They also had the opportunity to learn simple yet valuable habits, engage in fun games and win cool eco-friendly prizes.

Ta3limy

Created in 2018, Ta3limy is our free educational platform for Egyptian students, parents and teachers. In line with the United Nations’ Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UN-ESCWA) study, the strategic approach outlined for Sustainable Development Goal 4, Quality Education, in Egypt is both ambitious and forward-thinking.

The platform’s primary purpose is to empower the upcoming generation with digital learning and skills, thus unlocking life-changing opportunities. By providing free access to a rich array of educational and skill-based content through a user-friendly digital experience, the initiative aims to shape 21st-century global citizens capable of navigating and contributing to a digital Egypt.

The Ta3limy programme encompasses the provision of quality curricular and extracurricular content, complemented by the essential infrastructure for digital learning, including hardware, connectivity and digital resources. Notably, the programme focuses on revolutionising the way students, teachers and parents consume education, incorporating engaging technology solutions and leveraging popular platforms like TikTok and YouTube.

The digital experience, characterised by quality educational content, user-friendly features and gamified learning experiences, promises a seamless and incentivised educational journey.

This comprehensive plan strives to revolutionise education consumption and propel Egypt towards achieving various Sustainable Development Goals.
