On 8 February, our first Spirit Day of the year gave us the opportunity to come together across our markets as #One, reinforcing our commitment to growth, learning and earning customer loyalty.

For their Spirit of Vodacom Day, our team from Tanzania opened a bold new chapter with the launch of their exciting “Fresh Start” initiative. The entire team gathered to discuss the 10 pillars to enhance customer loyalty and customer experience at Vodacom.

The Exco team unveiled and described the 10 pillars in detail, giving all employees a clear understanding of what the Fresh Start initiative is about.

Lesotho’s Spirit of Vodacom Day brought an air of excitement and anticipation, emphasising the company’s dedication to nurturing well-being and promoting a culture of continuous learning.

The day was packed with activities ranging from educational trivia sessions to financial planning workshops and a vision board party, all aimed at inspiring and empowering employees. It was also a day dedicated to growth – personal growth, professional growth and growth as the Vodacom family. As the morning unfolded, employees exchanged ideas and perspectives, united by a common goal of personal and professional development.

At midday, armed with scissors, glue and many magazines, employees gave their imagination free rein to bring their dreams to life on the vision board. From career milestones to personal passions, each vision board was a colourful tapestry of hopes and aspirations.

It wasn’t just a day of learning – it was a celebration of resilience, connection and the possibilities that lay ahead. United by the Spirit of Vodacom, employees departed with renewed energy and determination, ready to embrace the challenges and opportunities that awaited them on their journey of growth and discovery.

In Egypt, the Spirit of Vodafone Day was another day of growth and learning, with a focus on the completion of the Key Performance Indicator (KPI) of 25 learning hours.

Vital topics like physical and mental health were addressed, as the day highlighted Vodafone Egypt’s holistic approach towards employee welfare through its employee assistance programme, iAssist, and provided sessions on work-life balance and burnout.

Vodafone Egypt involved employees in an entertaining quiz to test their understanding of the company’s new local strategy, rewarding correct answers with a Spirit candy jar.

The theme of earning customer loyalty was central, with messages of gratitude recorded for our frontline heroes in retail and customer care, reinforcing the value placed on every employee’s contribution to customer satisfaction.

In South Africa, the Spirit Day focus was on finding ways to earn customer loyalty. With Customer being one of the strategic pillars, Vodacom South Africa continually explores how to go Further Together in assisting the people they serve. This includes a drive to dramatically improve the company’s customer experience; eradicating customer pain points; and continuing to focus on the digital-first strategy.

To drive home the day’s theme, employees took part in Customer Charter Conversations. These were aimed at enhancing transparency, trust and staff awareness by outlining the Customer Charter focus areas, namely Network, Service, Value and Loyalty.

Imran Khan, Managing Executive of Vodacom KwaZulu-Natal Region, said the Spirit of Vodacom Day was also an opportunity to celebrate the company’s 200 millionth customer and 30th anniversary.

South Africa’s Spirit of Vodacom Day offered employees a platform to discuss concerns, feedback and ways to improve the customer experience. Ultimately, Customer Charter Conversations foster collaborative discussions built on mutual respect and understanding.

Our quarterly celebrations

The Spirit of Vodacom Day is a day when everyone has a chance to step away from their usual routines, free of meetings and away from the traditional workspace. It allows the Vodacom family to reflect on the core behaviours that form the foundation of our unique culture, as well as our beliefs, namely trust, drive, curiosity and belonging.

Don’t miss our upcoming Spirit of Vodacom Days for 2024. See you there!
