In a remarkable acknowledgement of excellence, the Top Employers Institute has recognised Vodacom as the number 1 Top Employer in Africa for 2024, once again showing the power of connecting for a better shared future.

Our prestigious Top Employer title comes after a rigorous certification process involving more than 2 300 organisations across 121 countries and regions, all committed to creating exceptional HR practices and benefits for their employees.

It’s a significant leap from our second place in 2023, marking a historic first for Vodacom and highlighting our journey of going Further Together over recent years.

The Vodacom Group team celebrates our award as the number 1 Top Employer in Africa for 2024 at a gala event in Johannesburg, South Africa, on 15 February.

Creating the best workplace

For seven years in a row, we have been certified as a Top Employer, a testament to our dedication to creating the best workplace for our people. This year’s top ranking on the continent is the culmination of hard work and forward-looking initiatives. For example, in recent years we introduced a Spirit Beat survey to measure how well the Spirit of Vodacom resonates with our employees, while also identifying areas for improvement.

We have advanced our Employee Value Proposition (EVP) to enable working conditions where our employees, our biggest asset, can belong, thrive and make a difference on the continent. Underpinned by four pillars, the EVP creates a purpose-led, technology-driven environment where people want to work.

Stellar work by all our markets

Showing incredible consistency across the Group, all of our markets have been recognised this year.

  • Well done to Vodacom Lesotho, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Tanzania, and Safaricom Kenya for being certified as Top Employers; and to Vodafone Egypt for receiving the prestigious Great Place to Work award.
  • Special recognition goes to Safaricom Ethiopia, who participated for the first time and also received their Top Employer certification.
  • Congratulations to Vodacom Group, South Africa and Mozambique for receiving the Top Employer number 1 ranking. This is evidence of enabling working conditions where employees can belong, thrive and make a difference to your country and our continent.
