One of our major highlights is the quarterly Hall of Fame Awards, where the company celebrates its top achievers.

Vodacom knows its employees work hard, innovate and are trailblazers who are encouraged to “slay in your way”. After all, this is what makes them certified Vodacommers.

And because they embody courage, triumph, transformation, skills and success, they deserve to be celebrated.

Nominations – now on a digital platform – are made for the Star Performer, Most Valued Leader, Volunteer Award, Spirit Behaviour, Front Runner and Game Changer, while the coveted CEO Award is made at the CEO’s discretion.

We caught up with two of the winners – Paballo Maliehe from Marketing and Lintle Mefane from the M-Pesa Merchant Exchange team.

How does it feel to win a Vodacom Lesotho Hall of Fame Award?

Paballo Maliehe: “It is an incredible honour and a truly humbling experience. It’s a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire Marketing team.

“This award symbolises the recognition of our collective efforts and achievements, and it feels fantastic to be acknowledged for the work we’ve put into our marketing activities, especially for initiatives like Mega Jackpot, which have brought so much joy to our customers.”

Lintle Mefane: “Winning the award is a great recognition and sign of acknowledgement that not only are our efforts on the right path, but they are also making an impact. It brings about a sense of assurance in the daily deliverables and motivation to maintain and improve the standard of performance.”

How do you think your contributions as a Vodacom employee helped you win?

Paballo: “At Vodacom Lesotho, we have a strong culture of teamwork and innovation, and I believe that my dedication to these principles helped us succeed.

“We constantly strive to provide our customers with the best experiences and value. Being able to deliver real value to our customers through creative marketing campaigns was undoubtedly a key factor in receiving this recognition.”

Lintle: “The organisational culture of getting it done together played a significant part in receiving the support from the different departments to see through a project of this scale.”

How do you stay motivated in your role?

Paballo: “It’s relatively easy because of the supportive and dynamic environment within the company. We’re encouraged to think outside the box, and the trust and responsibility placed in our team foster a sense of ownership and motivation.”

Lintle: “The excitement of working on new projects, especially in the fintech space, is inspiring but, moreover, seeing the result and the impact that mobile money innovations have made in the lives of Basotho is humbling.”

What’s the best part of being a Vodacom Lesotho employee?

Paballo: “The sense of being part of a company that truly cares about its employees and customers. Vodacom is committed to innovation, quality and providing essential services to the people of Lesotho. It’s a place where you can grow both professionally and personally.

“Being able to contribute to the community through our various initiatives, like #CodeLikeAGirl, donating school shoes to vulnerable children as well as entrepreneurship workshops (in the Foundation department), is immensely rewarding.

“This sense of purpose and the opportunity to make a difference in people’s lives are what make working for Vodacom so special.

Lintle: “It’s being part of a global network of like-minded people and having access to various markets to learn from and connect with.

“I also value the organisational culture lived through Spirit behaviours, the staff engagement initiatives, and being part of an organisation that is inclusive in all aspects, from race to sexual orientation and gender equity in the workplace.”
