Vodafone Egypt is revolutionising the nation’s digital landscape by enhancing network infrastructure and rolling out 5G. Through strategic investments and partnerships, we are committed to delivering cutting-edge, high-speed connectivity that meets our customers’ growing demands.

The company officially acquired the 5G licence from the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) in October this year, marking a significant milestone in our commitment to developing Egypt’s digital infrastructure. This strategic move aligns with Vodafone Egypt’s ongoing commitment and investments in developing the country’s digital landscape.

“This significant milestone offers cutting-edge services and technologies that will better serve our customers’ growing needs for higher speed, low latency and an overall superior connectivity experience.

“5G will also be critical for businesses directly impacting IoT ecosystems, optimising operations, and allowing for swift and seamless data processing.

“I want to take this opportunity to thank Vodafone Egypt’s teams for their tremendous efforts and for always driving our success. This major development would not have been possible without their dedication and customer excellence.”

Our vision to enhance Egypt’s digital landscape through the roll-out of 5G made further strides in November, as Vodafone Egypt signed key agreements with Telecom Egypt to strengthen our network infrastructure. ICT Minister Amr Talaat witnessed the signing alongside Mohamed AbdAllah, CEO of Vodafone Egypt, and Mohamed Nasr, CEO of Telecom Egypt.

The landmark strategic partnership will enable Vodafone Egypt to use Telecom Egypt’s extensive infrastructure and fibre-optic network.

Faster, more reliable, more accessible

Our agreement with Telecom Egypt commits 30 billion Egyptian pounds towards the infrastructure development, including fibre, essential to powering 5G connectivity across Egypt. Telecom Egypt’s extensive nationwide fibre-optic network will support the enhancements, ensuring Vodafone Egypt can offer top-tier services to our customers.

“This ambitious investment represents a shared vision to bring faster, more reliable, and more accessible digital connectivity to our communities nationwide,” says Mohamed AbdAllah.

“With the demand for high-speed data and seamless communication growing every day, our joint effort aims to lay the foundation for bringing Vodafone’s global leadership in 5G technologies to Egypt.

“This partnership underscores our purpose to connect everyone for a better future benefiting from the transformative power of 5G,” he adds.

Adopting advanced technologies

The latest agreements strengthen Vodafone Egypt’s position as the country’s largest mobile operator and align with our ambition to lead digital transformation in the country. In line with the company’s commitment to adopting advanced technologies, this partnership makes Vodafone one of the largest infrastructure investors in Egypt.

The collaboration includes extending Vodafone Egypt’s transmission services agreement with Telecom Egypt until 2031 and a four-year agreement for fibre-optic connections to Vodafone Egypt cellular sites.

Minister Talaat noted that the number of cell towers in Egypt has doubled over the past five years, reaching 36 000, and significant investments have been made to enhance mobile network infrastructure.
